Small Victories

  1. Sleeping pattern back to normal. I get sleepy around midnight and wake up at 7! Exhaustion is the solution to insomnia pala hehehe. Last night I was woken up by a dream at 4AM though. Pft.
  2. Steady progress studying. I think it's the expensive coffee effect kicking in. HAHAHA.
  3. My planner-i-do-not-actually-want progress, 2/17
  4. In the self-control department, I can actually pass by the mall without buying anything now. YES. I can say no to clothes, books and food. Achievement! And, savingggs! (The coffees don't count, they're subsidized by the parents because they're for studying. Hahaha.)
  5. My pants fit again. (They no longer did a few months after graduation. Which is why I've been wearing shorts and dresses only for the past few months LOL.)
  6. Managed to reserve tickets for the Ultimate Taste Test 7.0 for myself and my friends yahoo patay gutom mode!
  7. I apparently have excellent form and graceful moves in zumba. Yehes. Thank you Phi (my med sorority) for teaching me how to dance hahaha!
Lists are the laziest. And this list looks like it's written by a crazy person haha. I'm really tired tonight! Mentally and physically!

But I'm the happy kind of tired. These small victories are  the things that keep me going. :)

Soulmates

The idea of soul mates actually originated with Plato.

His theory was that humans originally consisted of four arms, four legs and two faces. Zeus was threatened by their power and split them all in half, condemning us all to spend our lives trying to complete ourselves.

I wonder how this didn't catch my attention before. I searched for Plato and his soul mate theory, and after some research (ehem Wikipedia), I found out that it was part of a series of speeches he wrote examining the nature of love, titled Symposium.

The scriptwriters of Bones actually summed it up well enough, except for one part:

In this myth about soul mates, there were three kinds of humans, male, female and of both sexes. After the split, humans naturally yearned for their other half, so creatures who were only male sought  another male, and so forth.

So while discussing about love and soul mates, Plato also touched the matters of homosexuality.

Do I believe in myths? No, but I find it interesting how people come up with explanations for natural phenomena, and I think this particular explanation for love and homosexuality is rather nice.

Do you believe in soulmates? :)

Tuesday Pick-Me-Ups

Because everyone needs a pick-me-up or two after a manic monday.

Ristretto's Iced Americano with White Mocha
Shot of espresso + water + a squirt of white mocha + lots of ice = my favorite coffee drink on earth! (AKA the only coffee drink I like.) The baristas were confused when I told them what I wanted (they thought I wanted an iced americano AND a white mocha) but they eventually figured it out and they made it for me even though it wasn't on the menu.  A spot of sunshine in my day!

♥ Free Food for Millionaires by Min Jin Lee
New books always make me happy. Cheap finds in second-hand bookstores make me ecstatic! Yes, even though it's probably staying unread for about a year. Haha.

♥ Happy Feet Sneakers
I don't wear sneakers, not really, but when I do I like them to be Happy Feet with their triple cushioned soles. They make my feet very happy. :) Mom bought sneakers for my sister and it was Buy1Take1. Don't know if I will ever get to wear it but I like looking at them. Blue + Yellow = Lambda L♥ve

♥ Shamcey Supsup
When she entered the Top Ten I went from low batt to fully charged. PINOY PRIDE! :)

Eff you Disney!

There are a few grains of truth here. Which is why I'm sharing it even if it mispelled responsible which in spelling bees would probably come out in the easy round. I secretly (not really) judge people who mispell simple words. And those with bad grammar, durr.

Lovesittt.

I have these mean girl dreams where I go around in heels, a perfect pedicure, and immaculate hair and make-up, and bitch so hard I make people bleed. Don't judge me. Hee.

A New Mantra?

Sounds nice. I actually told myself, "hmm might adopt this for internship." You see I've been wanting to get rid of my whiny side for sometime now, be all sunshine and optimism.  But not five minutes later i realized how boring that would be. Like hello, drama is fun. LOLz.

I'm still having some sort of  creativity block and I also can't seem to remember what I used to do on the internet when I have free time. Tried blogging about my day but who cares about conducting and HGT monitoring? So today is repost-things-I-like-from-GoogleReader-and-StumbleUpon day. I'm choosing the ones which aren't to cheeezy and emo -- I've got a reputation to uphold, har.

I quote.

I want to taste and glory in each day, and never be afraid to experience pain; and never shut myself up numb in a core of non-feeling, or stop questioning and criticizing life and take the easy way out. To learn and to think, to think and live, to live and learn: this always, with new insight, new understanding, and new love.

I will now turn off my gadar

I am declaring it obsolete and useless. From this day I am going to rely on the wisdom of my friends who are much MUCH better than this.

False positives and false negatives abound! If this was an exam, true or false na nga lang binagsak ko pa. El-oh-elzz. I am laughing in frustration in the same way I cry when faced with hilarity.

Quick Post #1

What I've learned from all these frikkin exams so far:
There are some things which feel absolutely right, even when you can't explain why. A lot of times though, you still end up being wrong.
Nyahaha.

Gosh, how can something so wrong feel so right? :)
