Weeks Before the Boards, Mostly in Food Photos

With the medical boards so very very near, last week I decided to pick up my lazy ass and haul myself and my medical reviewers to Manila for some serious studying. There were times I wished I could do a Sheldon-Cooper-Flash-moment -- go to the Grand Canyons, scream my head off, and go back as zen as the Dalai Lama -- because putting on a show of calm and serenity when I'm really a bunch of nerves inside was driving me over the edge, but I'm better now hahaha. Thank you I Wrote This For You for averting a near-psychotic-break. ;)

Anyway, let's move on to happier things, i.e., what I ate last week. Haha.

I went back to Mercato for the first time this year! 

My last was during Ultimate Taste Test 7.0 and it feels like eons ago.

The only photo with my face in it was lomo-fied to give my face a bit of color, people have been telling me I look sick. I am not. Haha I just don't have my time out in the sun, and I don't feel like putting on makeup most of the time, because prettifying for a book feels a bit sad hahaha. :P

Last Weekend Mostly in Food Photos.

I am not, nor can I ever be a food blogger. Haha. My descriptive powers are blocked when it comes to food, and my judgment seems to be limited to whether the food is masarap or sulit. I am, unfortunately, unlike the characters in Cooking Master Boy who can describe dishes as "it tastes like a chicken drowning in the ocean clucking for help!" (NO KIDDING you should watch it.) I am just someone who raves about stuff that makes her happy, which happens to involve a lot of food, and friends who also like to eat. :D

A Place for Happy Tummies Part III: Return to Midnight Mercato

Last Friday Maits and I went back to Midnight Mercato for a friday food-date. It was a fail on so many levels: rain, people we didn't want to see, people we didn't see hahaha, but you can't feel bad for too long when surrounded by so much food!

The plan was to finally get that spam musubi and try out other stuff we hadn't before, which left out a lot of choices (you can read about my other Mercato picks here). As I was looking longingly at the Guactruck truck (hey that's really fun to say), the words "steamed burgers" caught the periphery of my eye. Say what?

A Place for Happy Tummies Part II: Midnight Mercato

We forgot to buy MedChef cakes to take home during our Banchetto trip, which led to cries of "We have to go back!" (We're dramatic when we're hungry.) But instead of going back to Banchetto in Forum (which we found had rather limited choices for a food fair), we decided to go to Midnight Mercato instead. 

I wasn't sure they had granada (our favorite Banchetto food find) at Mercato so before leaving, I dropped by Chicken Charlie to have these

When we got to Mercato, the first things we checked out were the desserts. Hehe.

The name was tempting. But the cake didn't look very yummy so we skipped it.
JUDGY! Haha. I'll try it next time.

The reason for our visit! They didn't have the Pandan-White Chocolate cake
that Chef Hasset Go recommended though. :(

After deciding that yes, we're sticking with MedChef for desserts and after Danlen told the girl at Empire (the stall selling macarons) na their merchandise was not "sulit" hahaha, we went around all the food stalls looking for food that struck our fancy.
